New Year, new home?
Start afresh with these clear out tips for moving home.
Moving home is stressful. Not only are you going to need to think about the move itself, but you are also going to need to prepare your old and new house for the move too. One of the best places to start is to think about the items that need to come with you and some of the items that should actually be left behind or disposed of. Not sure where to start? To help to inspire you we have put together our guide on what items you should take during a home move and what items you should be leaving behind.
Take your appliances
Appliances are amongst some of the most expensive things that you can buy for your home, which means, if you can take them with you, then make sure you do. In these modern times, many kitchens have their appliances built in, which can make things harder to take with you. So, keep this in mind when getting them installed.
Never damage your house to take something
Following from the above, and the idea of a built in appliance in your kitchen, you should never, ever take something from your old house that would cause damage to remove it. You may think that it is not your problem if something is left behind, however, this leaves a bad taste in the mouth of the person who is buying the house.
Think about things that are special to you
It may sound like an obvious point, but you really need to keep in mind the things that are special to you and that you want to have in your new home. For some people this could be a large coffee table that has come from a family member, or perhaps a light fixture that you simply love. Of course, you need to make sure that the item is going to be relatively easy to transport and that it is going to fit into your new home too. Else you could find yourself faced with a problem when you get to your new home.
Transport your garden furniture
Many of us have spent quite a lot of time and money making sure that our gardens look the very best that they can. For the most part, your garden furniture is going to work no matter the outdoor space, so that is definitely something that you can take with you. Not only this, but your lawn mower, your trimmer, any hoses and other garden items such as rakes should all be coming with you too.
But maybe leave behind the landscaping
Whilst there is plenty that you can take from your garden, there are also things that you need to leave behind. You may really love your flower bed and the outdoor plants that you have, but this doesn’t mean that you should ever dig them up, as this can damage the garden and may even damage the plant too. If you really cannot bear to leave a special plant behind then you may want to take a clipping so that you can have the pleasure of growing it all over again.
As you can see, there are plenty of ways that you can declutter the things that you can have in your home and make sure that your new home is going to be clean, clear and organised right from the very moment that you move in.
